Barrow: BAC Fixates on Arguments, Won’t Build Brufut Market—But I Will

President Adama Barrow has criticized the Brikama Area Council, accusing it of focusing on arguments rather than development, and told residents of Brufut that his government would take responsibility for building their proposed market.

Speaking in Brufut on Saturday during the inauguration of a new road, Barrow said he would personally lay the foundation stone for the market, oversee its construction, and return to inaugurate it upon its completion.

“It is easy to talk, but delivering the work isn’t easy. Gambians, I want you to distinguish between those who only talk and those who deliver development,” Barrow said.

The president described the road projects already completed in Brufut as only the beginning, saying his administration had additional development plans for the community.

Barrow also tied further infrastructure projects in Brufut to the Dec. 5 presidential election, telling residents that his government would undertake more development in the area if he were re-elected. He said the construction of another road in Brufut would depend on the outcome of the election.

The president also urged residents to maintain peace and conduct political activities responsibly as the election approaches.
