President Adama Barrow has urged residents of the Upper River Region (URR) to support his re-election bid in December, promising to construct 360 kilometers of roads in the region if he secures another term in office.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Basse–Manneh Kunda, Bemba Kunda and Numuyel road project, President Barrow said his administration had earmarked an additional 360 kilometers of roads for construction in the region after the election, pledging to complete the projects.

The president, who is seeking another five-year term, appealed directly to voters to turn out in large numbers, dismissing potential criticism of his administration’s development record.

“I only want one thing from you: vote for me and leave the rest to me. Voting takes place in a single day, so I am urging you not to use distance to polling stations, hot weather, or work as excuses not to vote,” he said.

Mr. Barrow defended his administration’s record, claiming that his government had achieved more than 90 percent coverage in water and electricity supply. He also pointed to the construction of schools, hospitals, and universities across the country as evidence of progress under his leadership.

The president said his administration was now placing greater emphasis on road infrastructure, predicting that the scale of development over the next five years would be historic.

He maintained that delivering development projects had been relatively straightforward for his government and expressed confidence in its ability to fulfill its remaining commitments.

Describing himself as a servant of the Gambian people, Mr. Barrow pledged to continue pursuing development initiatives, insisting that the country would maintain its progress under his leadership.
