Almameh Gibba, the National Assembly member for Foni Kansala, on Friday donated medical supplies worth 166,600 dalasis to Bwiam General Hospital.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Gibba said the gift was part of his continuing support for health care in his constituency. He said it followed a surgical camp he sponsored last year in partnership with AMISURG, after which he met hospital leaders to discuss their shortages of supplies.

He said more assistance was on the way and urged village heads, local authorities, farmers, residents, and Gambians abroad to help maintain the facility.

“This hospital should not be left to the government alone,” he said. “Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.”

Mr. Gibba said that strengthening Bwiam General Hospital, which serves communities across Foni and Kiang, would reduce the number of patients referred to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

He thanked the hospital’s staff for their work.

In a separate presentation, he also gave police traffic vests to officers at the Bwiam Police Station to help with traffic management.

Hospital and police officials thanked Mr. Gibba for his continued support.
