Bah: ‘If We Lose President Barrow, We’ll Search for Him With a Torchlight and Won’t Find Him.’

By Makutu Manneh
Hamat N.K. Bah, the Minister of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs, has urged residents of the North Bank Region to continue supporting President Adama Barrow, arguing that his administration has delivered an unprecedented level of development to the region.
Speaking in Passy Chally on Thursday during President Barrow’s Meet the People Tour, Mr. Bah sought to make the government’s development record a central argument for the president’s re-election.
He contrasted the Barrow administration’s record with those of former Presidents Dawda Kairaba Jawara and Yahya Jammeh, claiming that only 40 villages in the North Bank were electrified during their combined decades in power.
By comparison, Mr. Bah said, 204 villages in the region have been electrified under President Barrow, while a new contract has been tendered to extend electricity to the remaining communities without access.
Mr. Bah said the expansion of electricity, along with investments in health care, education, and agriculture, demonstrated that the government had fulfilled its major commitments to the region.
“All the promises he made, he has fulfilled them,” Mr. Bah said. “Now it is left to you, and people forget easily.”
Mr. Bah, a prominent political ally of the president, also accused opposition politicians of seeking to entice voters with cash handouts ahead of the election. He described such efforts as deceptive and warned residents against allowing short-term financial inducements to influence their political choices.
He urged North Bank voters to turn out in large numbers for President Barrow and deliver what he described as a decisive victory.
“If we lose President Barrow, we will take the torchlight and search for him and wouldn’t find him,” Mr. Bah said.
