The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs has warned the public against unauthorized construction and occupation within the Sanyang Deep Sea Port area, citing growing concerns over encroachment on land designated for the project.
In a statement issued on Aug. 25, the ministry said it had observed an increase in illegal construction, occupation, and other activities taking place in the area without approval from the relevant authorities.
“The public is hereby strongly advised to desist from undertaking any form of development, construction, occupation, or other activities within the said area without the requisite approval from the relevant authorities,” the ministry said.
The warning comes as authorities seek to prevent further unauthorized development around the proposed deep-sea port site in Sanyang.
The ministry said the Department of Physical Planning and Housing would continue monitoring the area and take appropriate action to prevent further encroachment.
It also cautioned that structures, occupations, or other development undertaken without authorization would be subject to existing laws and regulations, though the statement did not specify what enforcement measures could be taken against violators.
The ministry urged landowners, developers, and other members of the public to obtain the necessary consent from the relevant authorities before carrying out construction or other activities within the designated deep-sea port area.
