Mamma Kandeh, leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has pledged to implement a robust anti-corruption agenda and ensure the fair distribution of national resources should his party come to power.

Speaking at a recent engagement, Kandeh assured Gambians that a GDC-led government would adopt a zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing that public resources would be managed transparently and allocated without political bias.

He stated that the GDC possesses both the expertise and readiness to govern effectively, adding that his administration would prioritize national development and inclusivity.

“With a GDC government, The Gambia will begin to experience the true value of good governance,” Kandeh said.

The opposition leader further asserted that no other political party in the country could match the GDC’s performance, citing the party’s track record as evidence of its capability. However, he stressed that achieving the party’s broader goals and vision would require securing political power.

Kandeh also made a firm commitment to accountability, stating that his government would step down if it failed to meet the expectations of the Gambian people.

In addition, he pledged to introduce presidential term limits, arguing that prolonged tenure in office often leads to negative consequences. According to him, the GDC aims to establish a governance system that promotes renewal and leaves a lasting positive legacy.

He criticized the current administration, expressing doubt that its policies would enable the country to achieve its development objectives.

“I do not believe what we have seen so far from the current government will help us achieve our national goals,” he said.
