Falalo M. Touray, the Seyfo of Kombo South, has urged Gambians to register and vote in support of President Adama Barrow in the upcoming 2026 presidential election. He emphasized that national development requires collective effort and cannot be achieved by the president alone.
Speaking at a National People’s Party (NPP) rally in Sambuya, Touray called for unity among citizens to advance the country’s progress.
“What I want to tell people is that we must unite to develop our country to the level we all aspire to. President Adama Barrow cannot do it alone; he needs the support and participation of all citizens. One of the key ways to contribute is by registering to vote,” he stated.
Touray further encouraged eligible voters who have not yet registered to do so, stressing the importance of civic participation in sustaining development efforts.
“Voter registration is ongoing. Anyone who has not registered should make sure they do so and come out to vote for President Barrow. Without that support, it will be difficult for him to continue implementing his development agenda,” he said.
He added that supporting the president at the polls would enable the continuation and completion of ongoing national projects.
“Anyone who wishes to support both the president and the country should do so by voting for him in the 2026 presidential election so he can complete his development initiatives,” he noted.
Reflecting on the 2021 electoral cycle, the Seyfo also pointed to challenges arising from voting patterns, suggesting that a lack of alignment between presidential and National Assembly outcomes had affected governance.
“We made things difficult during the last election by supporting the president but not backing his selected National Assembly candidates. That situation should not be repeated, as it complicates governance,” he said.
