The spokesperson of the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), Kemo Bojang, has said that failing to recognize the UNITE movement as the fastest-growing political entity in The Gambia is “prejudicial,” emphasizing that its rapid expansion reflects increasing support from Gambians seeking genuine change.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Mr. Bojang expressed confidence in the movement’s growing momentum, noting that its ability to attract citizens committed to national development has been a key factor behind its rise.
“What stands out most to us is our ability to attract like-minded Gambians who genuinely want the best for their country,” he said.
Mr. Bojang attributed the movement’s progress to what he described as a straightforward political approach rooted in honesty and openness.
“Our approach has been straightforward—presenting truth and honest politics, speaking from a place of vulnerability, and acknowledging areas for improvement,” he stated.
According to him, this approach has resonated with many Gambians and helped the movement build a large and committed base of supporters.
The UMC spokesperson further noted that the movement’s growth has been organic and steady, which he said reflects a changing perception of politics among Gambians.
“Organic politics signifies steady growth, as reflected in our progress,” he said.
Mr. Bojang also urged Gambians to take collective responsibility for the country’s future, stressing that meaningful change must come from the people themselves.
“No politician can save the people; it must be a deliberate decision we take as a people, and we are here to take that decision together,” he added.
He also dismissed the notion that members of the UNITE movement see themselves as saviors, emphasizing instead a commitment to hard work and reform.
“As I have consistently told the Gambian people, we are not saviors nor experts in every field, but we are hard workers committed to unlearning old methods and building a new structure that will lead to a new country together,” Mr. Bojang said.
