Alhaji Mamadi Kurang, the secretary of the Janneh commission that is probing the financial activities of former ruler Yahya Jammeh, has been replaced by his assistant Ramatoulie Sarr, the justice minister has confirmed to Kerr Fatou.

Sarr who is also the deputy permanent secretary at the ministry of justice has replaced Kurang at the commission’s sittings on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kurang has showed up for work on Tuesday and as at 3 p.m. he told Kerr Fatou has did not receive any letter relieving him of his duties.

But minister Tambadou later confirmed his replacement who he said will help the commission ends its activities as it draws to an end in August.

Kurang has had several differences with the lead counsel of the commission Amie Bensouda who he accused of being implicated in some issues before the commission.

Kurang accused Bensouda of attempts to frustrate the sale of Jammeh’s impounded tractors, selective questioning of witnesses and poor professional judgment, among others.

Tambadou said on Monday at a press that the complaints Kurang made and his position on Bensouda has made his position at the commission untenable.
