Police Launch Investigation Into Death of 20-Year-Old Following Electrocution

The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of 20-year-old Mattarr Bittaye, a resident of Sinchu Sorrie, who tragically lost his life in an electrocution incident on Tuesday, August 12.
According to authorities, the incident occurred while Bittaye was cutting branches from a mango tree and inadvertently came into contact with a NAWEC electrical cable running through the tree.
“The body was retrieved from the tree by personnel of the Serekunda Fire Service Station, assisted by NAWEC staff, and transported to Bundung Hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” the police wrote in a statement.
The Gambia Police Force has assured the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
