NPP National President Warns NPP Members Against Abusing Privilege, Citing Risk of Lax Police Enforcement on Party Vehicles

Musa Drammeh, National President of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) and Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, has cautioned party members against abusing privilege while using campaign vehicles, warning that law enforcement officers may hesitate to take action against them.

Speaking at the party’s handing-over ceremony of campaign vehicles to members, Drammeh said members of the ruling party must be more careful in their conduct than members of the opposition.

He specifically urged those assigned to drive the campaign vehicles to obey traffic rules, adding that the police officers may hesitate to enforce the law on vehicles linked to the ruling party, a situation he said should not happen.

“As a governing party, it is true we should not be scared, but when you are in your rights. However, we should be careful,” he stated.

He noted that actions considered normal for opposition parties could be interpreted as abuse of power when done by those in government.

Minister Drammeh emphasized that the party must avoid unlawful behavior during the campaign period. He called for a peaceful and stable campaign and election and expressed hope that there would be no accidents involving party vehicles.
