Mai Ahmed Fatty, leader of the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC), has expressed confidence that President Adama Barrow and the coalition supporting him are poised for victory in the 2026 elections. Speaking at the NRP rally in Lumen, Fatty emphasized that opposition parties are far behind President Barrow in the race.
“The candidates seeking to replace President Barrow are only chasing his shadow. He is far ahead, and the alliance is secure. At this point, the debate is only about the margin of victory,” Fatty stated.
He further urged Gambians not to be swayed by opposition parties, describing their efforts as futile. “The opposition is wasting their time. I urge the people not to follow them,” he said.
Highlighting the achievements of the current government, Fatty added, “The opposition cannot even manage basic development. Only President Barrow and his administration have the capacity to build roads, provide electricity, and construct hospitals.”
Fatty also stressed that his support for the president and the alliance is grounded in the government’s performance and its commitment to national development. “We support President Barrow and the alliance because they are fulfilling their responsibilities to the country. Our backing ensures that the nation continues to progress,” he concluded.
