On Monday, the Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) extended a gesture of goodwill to its passengers, distributing Iftar meals to travelers at its Kanifing depot as part of its Ramadan outreach.

The initiative underscores the transport company’s commitment to community engagement during the holy month of Ramadan, a period observed by Muslims worldwide with fasting, reflection, and charitable acts.

GTSC, the country’s national transport provider, has long been recognized for ensuring safe and reliable travel across The Gambia and neighboring countries. In recent years, the company has expanded its services while maintaining a focus on passenger comfort and welfare.

Speaking during the distribution, Seedy Kanyi, GTSC’s general manager, emphasized that the gesture was a way to show appreciation to passengers for their loyalty.

“Without you, the passengers, we are nothing,” Mr. Kanyi said. “This is why we are contributing our quota through the distribution of this Iftar package. GTSC cares about you.”

He described the outreach as part of the company’s broader effort to foster compassion and solidarity in the communities it serves, particularly during Ramadan. Mr. Kanyi also encouraged passengers to continue supporting the company through their prayers and patronage.

On behalf of GTSC’s board and staff, he expressed gratitude for passengers’ continued trust and assured them that the company remains dedicated to providing safe, convenient, and affordable transportation.

“Our service does not stop at transporting human beings, but we have also gone beyond normal passenger transportation,” he said.

Beyond daily passenger transport, GTSC offers school bus services for students and long-distance travel to destinations across the region, reflecting its expanding role in national mobility.
