The National Assembly is set to consider the government’s proposed revenue and expenditure estimates for the 2027 fiscal year when lawmakers convene for the Third and Fourth Ordinary Sessions of the 2026 Legislative Year.
The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly said in a statement that the sessions will run from Monday, Sept. 7, through Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026.
During the sessions, lawmakers are expected to consider a range of parliamentary business, including questions to ministers for oral answers, reports from National Assembly committees and parliamentary delegations, motions, and bills.
A central item on the agenda will be the draft estimates of revenue and expenditure of the Government of the Gambia for the 2027 fiscal year.
“Pursuant to section 152 of the 1997 Constitution and Order 86 of the Standing Orders of the National Assembly, Honourable Members shall consider the Draft Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure of the Government of The Gambia for the 2027 fiscal year,” the Clerk’s Office said.
The consideration of the estimates is a key part of the annual budget process, allowing lawmakers to scrutinize the government’s proposed spending and revenue plans before the 2027 fiscal year.
The sessions will also provide lawmakers with an opportunity to question ministers and review reports from parliamentary committees and delegations as part of the Assembly’s oversight responsibilities.
The Clerk’s Office said members of the public who wish to attend the proceedings must obtain admission from its office.
Visitors were also reminded to comply with the National Assembly’s dress code, which requires traditional attire or suits, and to remain silent while proceedings are underway.
“The public is reminded to comply with the standard dress code (traditional/suit) required and also to observe the silence rule during proceedings of the session,” the statement said.
