The chief of Niamina West District, Ngange Dampha, on Wednesday pledged his community’s support to Adama Barrow in the forthcoming presidential election, asserting that opposition efforts in the area would yield little result.

Speaking at a gathering in Mali Kunda, where President Barrow presided over the laying of foundation stones for a series of road projects, Chief Dampha said residents of Niamina West were firmly aligned with the president and unlikely to be swayed by rival campaigns.

“I am informing President Barrow to sit down and wait and not to have two minds and see what Niamina will do in the coming presidential election,” Chief Dampha said, “Just leave them to be running around.”

Mr. Dampha said residents of Niamina West understood their interests and would not be swayed by political activity that, in their view, offered no tangible benefit to the district. He praised the planned road construction and the expansion of electricity access, saying such developments had strengthened the community’s support for the government.

“Residents of Niamina know where their interests lie,” Chief Dampha said. “For us, we love ourselves. We know what will benefit us, and we will not get into anything that will not benefit us.”

He added that the district’s political stance would remain unchanged despite efforts by the opposition to make inroads in the area.
