Abubacarr Kanteh, a ward councilor representing Kartong at the Brikama Area Council, has sharply criticized President Adama Barrow’s development record in Kombo South, arguing that the region has seen little progress since Mr. Barrow took office in 2017.

Speaking Tuesday on the radio program “Politic Kaacha,” Mr. Kanteh said the president’s administration had delivered only three notable infrastructure projects in Kombo South over the past several years. He identified them as roadworks linking the Gunjur Highway to the riverside, the Sanyang Highway to the riverside, and the ongoing construction from Brikama Kassa Kunda to Nyofelleh.

Beyond those projects, Mr. Kanteh contended, the area had experienced what he described as minimal government investment.

“There is no real impact President Barrow has brought to Kombo South,” he said. “People need to think carefully before re-electing him. What has he done with our taxes?”

Mr. Kanteh said that if asked to assess the government’s overall performance in the district, he would assign it a score of “10 to 12 out of 100,” adding that the administration had fallen “far short” of expectations.

The councilor also urged voters to oppose any bid by Mr. Barrow for a third term, citing what he described as a broken promise to introduce presidential term limits. During the 2016 campaign that brought him to power, Mr. Barrow had pledged to support constitutional reforms, including limits on the number of terms a president could serve.
