The 22 youths arrested yesterday were released on bail following a five-hour negotiation with police. Initially, the group declined the offer of bail, choosing to remain in custody until their scheduled court appearance.

The youths insisted that they had committed no offense warranting their detention, noting that they had been en route to the National Assembly to engage with authorities.

With the intervention of lawyers Junkung Jobarteh, Assan Martin, Nfamara Jawno Jawneh, and other colleagues, the youths were advised that their advocacy efforts could be more impactful if conducted outside of custody. Acting on this counsel, they ultimately agreed to accept bail.

Among those granted bail were Lamin Biyaye, Omar Sanyang, Abou Camara, Lamin Jammeh, Saffie Lowe, Kemo Fatty, and Amadou.
