President Adama Barrow on Saturday presided over the foundation stone–laying ceremony for a 42-kilometre road project in Kassa Kunda, Brikama North, marking another milestone in his administration’s ongoing infrastructure expansion. The event, held on December 20, 2025, signals the start of a project expected to enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and create new opportunities for residents—particularly women and young people.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Barrow described the initiative as more than just another development undertaking.

“This marks not just the beginning of another phase of road construction works, but also the potential creation of new pathways to greater opportunities, stronger connections, and a brighter future for our people,” President Barrow said.

he said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to ensuring nationwide infrastructure improvements.

He noted that the West Coast Region, already a vibrant economic hub, stands to further expand and prosper with the new road network. “The West Coast Region has long been a hub of activity, and it has great potential to evolve into a much bigger entity. With these improved roads, the region will expand even further to flourish beyond expectations,” President Barrow stated.

The President appealed for public cooperation and patience during the construction phase, acknowledging the temporary inconveniences the project may cause. “Road construction comes with discomfort, but it is temporary. There will be dust everywhere, and you will have to use bypasses, but I urge you to remain patient,” he noted.

President Barrow commended engineers, planners, and all stakeholders involved, praising their professionalism and dedication to the country’s infrastructure goals.

Residents of Kassa Kunda and surrounding communities gathered in large numbers to welcome the President and expressed optimism about the socio-economic benefits the road upgrade would bring, including improved access to markets, schools, and health facilities.

The foundation-laying ceremony represents the latest effort by the government to enhance infrastructure development and support national economic growth. It was attended by engineers, community members, and regional stakeholders who have long anticipated the project’s commencement.
