The Director of Communication and Branding at OIC Gambia Secretariat , Nfally Fadera has confirmed that the Gambia will not Host Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Summit this year.

“It’s safe to say that The Gambia cannot host the OIC this year but, there has not been any cancellation of the hosting right of the summit in the country. We will come out and inform people when a date is scheduled, we don’t have any official communication to confirm whether we will host the summit or not but practically, logistically by look of things, a summit that will host more than 50 head of States cannot hold in one or two months. This year it cannot be hosted in the Gambia,” Nfally Fadera told King Fm radio on Thursday.

The Director of Communication and Branding at OIC Gambia Nfally Fadera also told King Fm Coronavirus has seriously hampered their resource mobilization efforts which he said delayed their preparations on the ground.

While he said discussion with stakeholders are still ongoing, he continued by saying The Gambia still has with the hosting rights.
