Tida Bobo Kijera of the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) has confirmed that the Gambia Moral Congress has expelled her from the party.
“I don’t know what happened. They [GMC] just served me with a letter that they have expelled me from the party. They did not state any reason. We had a lot of issues in the party and I decided to take a break from politics. I don’t know if that is the reason,” she said.
In a press release, the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) stated that three of its members including Tida have been suspended.
“GMC National Executive, at its meeting held today, acting under article 69(5) and article 59 (1)(c) of the Party Constitution, unanimously approved the following decision:
“1. Expulsion of Mr. Sulayman Kambi and Ms. Fatou Faal from the Party pursuant to Section 58(b)(f) (h) (j) and infringement of Article 10 (2)(4) of the Code of Conduct of the Party Constitution, effective the 22nd day of November 2021.
“2. Expulsion of Ms. Tida Kijera from the Party pursuant to Article 58(1)(b)(c)(f)(h) and violation of Article (2) (4) of the Code of Conduct of theParty Constitution, effective the 22nd day of November 2021,” the party said in a statement dated 25 November 2021.
Prior to this development, Tida made an announcement of taking a break from politics.
