President Barrow Welcomes GTUCCU Leadership, Praises Their Development Initiatives

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, today received the leadership of the Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU) at the State House in Banjul. The meeting focused on the union’s ongoing development projects and included an official invitation for the president to inaugurate their newly constructed headquarters in Bakoteh, Kanifing Municipality.

During the meeting, GTUCCU CEO Dawda Kujabi outlined the union’s commitment to improving the welfare of teachers and members through key initiatives in affordable housing, transportation, food security, entrepreneurship, and environmental protection. These efforts are carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

“His Excellency President Adama Barrow earlier today received the leadership of the Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU) on a courtesy visit to the State House in Banjul. The purpose of the meeting was to extensively inform the president on the union’s ongoing key development projects in the country and to invite him to inaugurate their newly built headquarters in Bakoteh, Kanifing Municipality,” State House said.

In his remarks, President Barrow commended the union for its transformative impact on the lives of teachers and other beneficiaries.

“In his remarks, President Barrow congratulated the GTUCCU for positively impacting the lives of teachers and other beneficiaries of their transformative packages. “I am so impressed by what you are doing, and you need support to do more.” H.E. told the GTUCCU leadership and further encouraged them to uphold unity stating, “When we are united, we are stronger.”

The GTUCCU delegation was accompanied by Dr. Habibatou Drammeh, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education.
