PRESIDENT BARROW MEETS UN CHIEF OVER DONOR MEETING IN BRUSSELS

The Gambian leader has met the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Tuesday over the country’s coming donor conference to be held in Brussels, the spokesperson of the UN chief has said in a statement.

 Gambia government is holding a donor conference on May 22 to seek support for the implementation of the national development plan

The President discussed his expectations for the upcoming donors conference on The Gambia in Brussels in support of the country’s National Development Plan, the office said.

The Secretary-General congratulated the Republic of The Gambia for progress made since the political transition, and underscored the importance of sustainable development and peace consolidation.

He also reiterated the solidarity and continued support of the United Nations with the Government and People of The Gambia.

The Gambian leader is meeting some heads of states in New York on Wednesday before he departs for Banjul on the same day.

President Barrow is expected to arrive in Gambia on Thursday morning.
