Police Constable Paul A.F. Sambou, a resident of Abuku and a four-year veteran of the police force, provided testimony in the trial of former soldier Abdoulie Sanyang. PC Sambou is currently assigned to the IT Unit, where he serves as technical support for the police.
When asked whether he recognized the accused, Constable Sambou confirmed that he did, explaining that he identified Sanyang from a video he had extracted during the course of the investigation.
PC Sambou testified that he was instructed by his supervisor to download the video of the interview between Peter Gomez and Abdoulie Sanyang to assist with the ongoing investigation. Using his police-issued laptop, identified as PH, he accessed the YouTube channel “Coffee Time,” searched for the interview titled “Abdoulie Sanyang interview with Peter Gomez,” and downloaded the video. He stated that this task was carried out during his official working hours.
After downloading, Constable Sambou transferred the video to a new flash drive and delivered it to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). When asked by Counsel Jobarteh whether he would recognize the video if it were played in court, he replied affirmatively, confirming that the video featured both Abdoulie Sanyang and Peter Gomez.
Counsel Jobarteh applied for the video to be played in court. The defense counsel, Lamin J. Darboe, raised no objections. The interview video was subsequently played in open court; however, before its full one-hour duration could be completed, the scheduled court time expired.
Presiding Judge Justice Jaiteh adjourned proceedings until next Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
