The activity report and financial statement of the National Roads Authority (NRA) for the year 2020 have been adopted by the National Assembly Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC).

The adoption on Tuesday after scrutiny of the documents came after members of the standing committee took turns to raise concerns and queries on the activity report and financial statement of the institution.

After a comprehensive introduction by the Chairperson of the committee Honourable Ahagie S. Darboe, the member for Sanneh Mentereng and member of the committee Hon. Fatou Cham asked the NRA Managing Director about the pending roads within her constituency.

The roads in question are the Brufut-Madiyana road, Gamtel-Brufut road and Brufut-Titinto road.

The NRA Managing Director, Momodou Senghore in response to Hon. Cham’s question said the NRA has signed a one-year contract for those roads and work would soon begin on them.

He added that the Brufut-Gamtel road would be connected to the OIC road projects.

Speaking further, Hon Cham asked MD Senghore whether NRA would compensate those who are affected by the construction of the roads; but the roads authority boss told her that he must talk to the lands minister about the matter first, for any possibility.

“I will not be tired by knocking your door until I get what my constituency needs, because that is why I am sent to the parliament,” Hon. Cham said while emphasizing the “bad” road network in her constituency and asking the roads authorities to do something about it.
