Operations Zero Crime: Police Arrest 60 Suspects On Day 3

Police have announced that they have arrested 60 suspects on the third day of the newly instituted ‘Operation Zero Crime’.

They added that 5 non-Gambians are among the suspects arrested.

“A total number of 60 people were arrested at various criminal hideouts. Among them 5 are non-Gambians. 16 are from Banjul Region, 25 Kanifing Region and 19 from West Coast Region,” said a statement by the police.


According to the police, the offences the suspects committed ranged from going armed in public; assault causing actual bodily harm; possession of suspected drugs; possession of suspected stolen properties; idle and disorderly manners; attempt to commit felony; to breaking and stealing, among others.

‘Operation Zero Crime’ has been recently instituted by the police with the objective to tackle crime and criminal activities within communities, and dismantle all criminal hideouts, as well as prosecute offenders in accordance with the Law, according to the police.
