The Minister of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure, Hon. Ebrima Sillah, has emphasized the significance of implementing the Gambia Transport Union’s (GTU) nine-point resolutions, recently submitted to his ministry.
Minister Sillah reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the GTU to develop a more efficient, safer, and sustainable transport system, expressing full support for the union’s initiatives.
He commended the GTU for its proactive role in advancing national transport reforms, stating, “Such collaboration is essential for national development and improved service delivery.”
Omar Ceesay, President of the Gambia Transport Union, assured the minister of the union’s dedication to partnering with the government to achieve these shared objectives. Both parties agreed to maintain ongoing dialogue and cooperation to strengthen the transport sector and serve the broader national interest.
The discussions took place on Wednesday, 15 October, during a courtesy visit by the GTU to the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure. The primary focus of the meeting was the GTU Town Hall Meeting Resolutions, submitted to the ministry on 3 October 2025 for consideration.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the ministry noted, “The resolutions aim to enhance the transport sector and align with the country’s National Development Plan.”
