Libyan Ambassador to the Gambia Presents his Letter of Credence

The new Libyan Ambassador to the Gambia, His Excellency Munsef Mohammad Haweel Naseeb, presented his Letter of credence to the President of the Republic of the Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, in a ceremony held at Statehouse today.

Upon the presentation of his Letter of Credence, the new Libyan Ambassador is the Government of Libya’s official diplomatic corps permanent mission representative in the Gambia. A Letter of Credence, also known as diplomatic credentials, is a letter addressed from one head of state to another, asking them to give credence to the Ambassador’s claim of speaking for their country.

After submiting his Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of the Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, the new Libyan Ambassador to the Gambia, His Excellency Munsef Mohammad Haweel Naseeb, declined to speak to the waiting Journalists gathered to witness the cermenony at Statehouse today.

The Libyan embassy is one of 44 foreign representations in the Gambia. It is also one of the 122 diplomatic and consular representations Libya maintains abroad, comprising 112 embassies and ten consulates.
The Libyan capital Tripoli, hosts 48 embassies and 15 consulates.

The Gambia in contrast, maintains 22 embassies and high commissions as well as 38 consulates abroad. The Gambian capital Banjul is host to 15 embassies and high commissions, and in addition, there are 28 consulates and one other representation in the Gambia.
