Imam Ba Kawsu Fofana has performed his maiden sermon at the State House mosque today (Friday), since President Adama Barrow took office in 2017.

“Pictorial of my first Friday ‘Khutbah’ (sermon) at State House in Banjul, The Gambia,” the Imam confirmed the news on his Facebook page after the congregation today.

The development followed the recent arrest of the Imam and colleague Musa Saidy. Their arrest came five days after a reported attack against the latter at his residence in Tujereng by disciples of the former.

Police had confirmed that Imam Saidy and his followers had captured some disciples of Ba-Kawsu Fofana, whom the Tujereng-based scholar accused of attacking him.

Imam Fofana who has been at loggerheads with Imam Saidy for the past years, is also a strong critic of President Adama Barrow since he assumed office.
