The Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has asked the Inspector General of police to discipline the police officer who brought down the UDP Flag in Kiang Kolior.

“Yesterday I saw a police officer who said he brought down the UDP Flag in Kiang Kolior. I once visited the former IGP Mamour Jobe in his official capacity as IG and I told him UDP wants to work with the police, they are citizens, they can support any political party they want to, but let them not use their uniforms to fight against UDP. What we are expecting from the IGP is, the police officer who did that bad thing, you should discipline him because he is politically biased. Why didn’t he bring down the NPP flag? Why the UDP Flag? I am requesting this on a political platform, but will put it on record.

“We will write to the administrative secretary and we expect you to take appropriate action and send a signal to all the officers and tell them they cannot get involved in partisan politics. Just as the CDS also should tell his soldiers not to be involved in politics. We expect you to do the same thing and you have to discipline this particular gentle man. We expect the IGP to understand the law because he is a lawyer. And you should not accept anything that is against the law. So don’t accept anyone to use you in their politics,” Ousainu Darboe told the police chief while addressing his supporters.

He also urged the Inspector General of police to do his investigations and unfreeze the account of Dabanani who he said is accused of money laundering.

“I also understand that you have frozen the account of Dabanani because Adama Barrow told you he is doing money laundering. It is a politically motivated decision. If you had taken a little time and did your investigations, call the Dabanani Managing Director, you will understand that he had a sub contract to do electrification in The Gambia. What they paid him is the money and the contract documents are there.

“Please IG don’t allow these people that are destroying this country to use you. I asked you to call Dabanani tomorrow, ask him about his documents, and defreeze the account. That will be the good thing to do to maintain your reputation. Ignore the nonsense talks that are saying you are supporting UDP and do the right thing. And the only way we can stop all these is to vote for UDP,” Darboe concluded.

The United Democratic Party leader made these comments during his political rally on Sunday in Kuloro in the Kombo East District.
