The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a fire that engulfed the Farafenni courthouse on November 4, 2025, causing extensive damage.
According to the police, despite rapid response efforts from officers and local community members, the blaze could not be contained, resulting in the total destruction of the courthouse and all property inside.
“Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported,” the police confirmed. They added that the force is working closely with relevant stakeholders, including the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services, to determine the cause of the fire and fully assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
