The Gambia’s Young Scorpions this evening opened their WAFU tournament with a 2-0 win over Cape Verde at Stade Olympique de Nouakchott in Mauritania.
Waa Banjul forward, Ba Lamin Sowe scored both goals for the Gambia in the 24th and 74th minutes respectively, which earned him ‘Man of the Man’ award.

“The Young Scorpions will next face Gambian-born Coach Tapha Manneh’s Liberia U20 on Thursday September 1st, 2022 at the Stade Sheikha Bodya at 20;30hrs in Nouakchott,” GFF said in a statement on Facebook following the victory.
The win will motivate the Young Scorpions to defend the title they won in Senegal two years ago.
