The Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) has proposed an additional D50 million for the Ministry of Finance to address key priority expenditures within the 2026 fiscal year. The ministry currently has an allocation of D2,223,111,173 in the 2026 draft budget estimates.
FPAC further recommended that the Accountant General’s Department receive an extra D25 million to bolster the development of the Integrated Financial Management Information System (GAM-IFMIS).
These recommendations were presented in the committee’s consolidated report on the 2026 revenue and expenditure estimates, tabled before lawmakers by FPAC Chairperson Alagie S. Darboe.
“The committee recommends that an additional allocation of fifty million (D50,000,000) be added to the budget of the Ministry of Finance. That an additional fund of D25,000,000 be added to the Accountant General’s Department budget to cater for the Development of IFMIS-Gambia (GAM-IFMIS) budget line,” Darboe stated.
The report also outlines a detailed breakdown of the ministry’s proposed 2026 expenditures, covering travel, fuel and lubricants, office operations, electricity, rent, training, and development initiatives.
Parliamentarians subsequently adopted the committee’s report.
