The suspended GSM Operator Comium has appealed for the lifting of the suspension and promised to settle the entire debt through new investors.
“We are willing to move forward, so I’m appealing to The Gambia Government, Minister of Communication, PURA and also Mr President Adama Barrow, we are saying let the suspension be lifted right now, and we pay right now,” Joeking Mendy the Marketing and sales assistant unit manager appealed on behalf of the company.
Meanwhile, the Technical Director at the GSM Company said their new investors are ready to pay the debt they owe the state, if the suspension is uplifted.
“As we speak now, the investor just texted me and said if PURA is willing to lift the suspension, they’re going to pay everything now.
“They have imputed fourteen million without signing anything with this government in the name of moving forward. As a sign of good will, the government is not going to lose anything by lifting the suspension. The government can come back and say to us, you (Comium) said if we lift the suspension, you will pay and you haven’t paid. Let them just give us one week. After one week, if we don’t pay, don’t even negotiate with us. But I think we need to understand the difference between Munti Mobile (New investors) and Comium Gambia,” Lamin Drammeh told reporters.
The duo on behalf of their company made these remarks on Wednesday at a press conference held at its head office on Kairaba Avenue.
Comium earlier on today issued a statement expressing surprise of its suspension by PURA.
Reacting to its suspension, the GSM Company in a written statement, called the news “surprising”, after positive meetings, they had with their new management and PURA.
In the statement, it admitted paying D14, 000,000 of its gross dues, and expressed determination to pay the remaining amount, without even relating the payment to its D21, 000,000 due receivable from Gamtel.
