One of the famous Gambian artistes, Awa Jonga, fondly referred to “Awa Gambia the controller” Tuesday briefed the media on her maiden album launch.
The launch of the album titled “Taking Over” is scheduled to take place at Penchami on 22nd October 2022.
The young singer first caught the attention of Gambians when represented country in the Senegalese singing competition “Sen petit Galle”, making a stop at the semi final.
Awa has since grown to be loved by many home and abroad thanks to her melodious voice, making a wave in the music industry.
Speaking to journalists, Awa Gambia gives an account of her journey.
“Taking over album is huge for me, because in the album, I expressed a lot of feelings. I expressed a lot of things that I have been through, a lot of things that I see people going through, a lot of things that I have learned from. Seeing people reacting to it motivates me,” she said.
The young artiste lamented that finance is a challenge affecting the growth of her music career.
“What we believe is that if you’re giving people, you should give them something good, not just anything. We make sure that we give you quality, and if you want quality, you must do a lot of spending, and when it comes to finance is a challenge,” Awa said.
Her manager, Ali Wally, assured the safety of everyone and their property on the night.
“I want assured everyone that comes to the event to be secured. All cars will be secured. I want everyone to come in peace and go back in peace,” he said.
He said that Awa would do her best to keep the audience entertained.
The album launch that is due for this Saturday consists of 11 songs.
The songs include “All eyes on me ft St”, “Dunyi la Tardel ft Jizzle”, “Ndanan ft Dieyna Baldeh”, and “Meuno ci man dara”, among others.
