A strong supporter of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) Pa Sainey Badjie (Obama) has confirmed his interest to contest for Brikama Area Council (BAC) Chairmanship under the APRC ticket, if NPP decides to put up a candidate for the position.

“Yes I will contest. I am a member of APRC. I will contest under APRC. But if the APRC-NPP coalition is together, then it will be an APRC-NPP alliance. The two parties have to meet and discuss because the West Coast is a strong hold for APRC. We cannot let that happen,” he said when asked if he would contest the Brikama Area Council Chairmanship in the 2023 local government election.

“We don’t want history to repeat itself in what happened during the National Assembly election. We gave them all and they lost everything in the West Coast Region. In KM, we [APRC] won two seats there. In the by-election at Marakissa ward, APRC campaigned for the candidate and he won. We gave it to the NPP to contest there because they were embarrassed there (in the parliamentary election). Serekunda also, Hagie is a 100% APRC, but he contested under the NPP,” he added.

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) formed an alliance with the National People’s Party (NPP) to re-elect President Adama Barrow shortly before the 2021 presidential election, the alliance also continued during the National Assembly.
